R.I.P. Bed Bugs

Bed Bugs has just announced that they’re disbanding.

Bed Bugs was a trio out of Aarhus, one of many interesting post-punk bands to pop up in the wake of Iceage. With a raw sound driven by frantic power-chord strumming, melodic basslines, monotonous, deadpan yelling and powerfully simple drum-pounding, they managed to carve a path of their own despite their short existence. They will be missed!

In the band’s short life span, they managed to produce an excellent split-tape with Perennial Flax (Jeppe Grønbæk Andersen) on Vulgar Deformity and an even better 7″ inch on Shordwood Records. The 7″ is actually still available through the Shordwood shop (my bet is they’ll sell for unreasonable prices on Discogs in a few years when they’ve gone cult –  so get yours while they’re still there!) or in digital format via their bandcamp. Listen to the entire 7″ below:

Guitarist Benjamin Lind Holm is currently doing his thing in rowdy Aarhus hardcore punksters Bad Stroke, that has already released their wonderfully sloppy debut tape (sold out), also on Shordwood, and are on their way with a 7″ on Halshugga Records.
They’re playing on Stengade October 31. https://www.facebook.com/events/1524783547759390/?fref=ts
No word on what the other bandmembers are up to, but seeing lead-singer/bassist Markus Sollid in Yung’s video for “Nobody Cares”, my guess is he’s still an active part of the Aarhus-scene.

Listen to “Dirt Hole” from the upcoming Bad Stroke 7″
